Additonal complications arise when the children are thrown in jail due to the Baron's law that children are illegal in Vulgaria. Unfortunately, the ruthless Baron of the land sets his sights on the magical car and will stop at nothing to have it. In celebration Potts, Truly, and the children, weave a tale about a happy family with a magical flying car in the faraway land of Vulgaria. Potts works on the broken down jalopy and transforms it into an attractive and functional automobile which they name Chitty Chitty Bang Bang describing the engine sound. The family's earnings from the venture are short lived, but enough to purchase the jalopy. Unbeknownst to him she is the daughter of a successful candy factory owner.

He decides with the assistance and encouragement of the lovely young lady he met, Truly Scrumptious, to make musical candy. Potts, not wanting to disappoint his children, tries to raise money to purchase the jalopy. One day the children ask their father to buy a broken down jalopy they play on in a nearby junk yard.
